Below is a list of the best how to decorate a sheet cake for halloween public topics and compiled by our team
What could be more spooky than a Graveyard Halloween Cake? This moist & airy chocolate sheet cake is slathered in an indulgent chocolate fudge frosting enhanced with brown butter & butter pecan flavors. It’s then topped with edible tombstones, skeletons, spooky trees & a fence made from candy melts. Of course, a graveyard isn’t complete without an over-the-top cute trick or treating ghost carrying a pumpkin filled with treats.
PIN IT for later.
Holy smokes! I can’t believe my last post was in August!! I bet you were ready to send out the search parties, weren’t you?
While not intentional, I guess you could say my absence added a cloak of mystery to this little space . Not necessarily a bad vibe especially when you consider that Halloween & everything mysterious & spooky is just around the corner. Nonetheless, I missed you all the same.
As for my whereabouts, I won’t keep you guessing any longer. I’ve been busy working with a healthy meal prep service (female owned. . .high fives to that!!!) photographing their weekly menus & boy has it been a ton of work. Despite the time commitment, it has also been worth every second as it has forced me to step outside of my comfort zone & hone in on my photography for & ability to style everyday meals. And. . . as you are well aware, we are anything but everyday & ordinary around these parts.
But you knew I couldn’t stay away from this space for long, now didn’t you? No matter what is going on in my life, no matter how hectic things get, I can’t resist the lure of fall & winter baking. Just the mere mention of pumpkin puts an intoxicating spell on me, forcing me to drop everything, roll up my sleeves & start drafting a probably way-too-ambitious list of goodies that I want to bring to you before the cool temperatures waft away & the butterflies burst from their cocoons.
I’m hoping that this spooky, but oh-so-cute, Graveyard themed Halloween Cake is one of many fall inspired treats that I will be bringing to you over the coming weeks. I’ve been dreaming about it for the past two Halloweens but, without fail, another cake, pie or tart muscles its way into my kitchen & nudges this whimsical, little number to the side so that it is just a mere memory carefully guarded in my head until the following Halloween. . then the next.
I wasn’t going to let that happen this year though. No siree! This cake is way too amazing to deprive you of – even for a millisecond longer.
Now, before you start cursing me that this Halloween Cake looks way too difficult to make, take a few deep breaths & chant a few Aaaaaaums because it really is easier than it looks. It just takes a little planning, a sprinkling of patience, & a whole lot of creativity. Besides, you really are the artist & you can adapt this cake to suit any vision you have racing through your mind. Don’t have time or patience to pipe a fence? No problem. Create it out of of pretzels or cookies. Scared of fondant? Pipe some meringue ghosts instead. Did they sell out of that tombstone mold? Hakuna matata. . .use a chocolate cookie or pipe your own using candy melts.
See how easy it is to whip into your very own masterpiece!? Just think of my version as inspiration. . . a starting point so to speak.
This Graveyard Halloween Cake would also be a perfect rainy day activity for the kids, a pre or post pumpkin carving activity or even a great excuse to have family & friends over for a little wine & crafting session. I even like the idea of having a little party, slicing the cake into sections & seeing who can craft the spookiest graveyard.
The other nice thing about this Halloween Cake is that all of the components can be made ahead of time. So, you can break the effort down by investing a little time each day into making the bits & baubles that will ultimately crown the top of this delicious beauty.
And even if you aren’t looking to unleash your creative side, the cake in of itself is completely irresistible & can be enjoyed long after Halloween has escaped us. I mean, you can never go wrong with an indulgent slice of chocolate cake, now can you?!
Thank you Wilton for sending over so many of the goodies needed to finally bring this Spooky Graveyard Cake to life. For your convenience, I’ve compiled a list of all the supplies that I used to create this Spooktacular Graveyard Halloween Cake in the section below the recipe card.
If you do make your own Graveyard Halloween Cake, be sure to take a photo & tag #roadtohoney & @the_road_to_honey in your social media postings. I can’t wait to see what you create.
XOXO –
Lynn
